Blessed Sacrament Church Faith Formation
PO Box 339, Poth, TX 78147
Dear Parents of Faith Formation students,
We will be holding Faith Formation classes this year, however, it will be significantly modified due to precautions we need to take. We will be observing all recommendations from the San Antonio Archdiocese for the health and safety of our students and volunteer staff, including requiring masks, safe spacing and sanitation. Families will have three options. Because of the importance of the Sacrament preparation years, Options 2 and 3 will not be available for 2nd, 7th and 8th grades.
- The first option will be to send your child to traditional classes.
- The second option will be a home program. Children’s workbooks can be checked out and the teacher will provide a lesson schedule and possibly additional materials so that the student can keep up with the class. If conditions improve, the student would have the opportunity to rejoin the class.
- The third option is online Faith Formation. There are a few choices for this but most require a subscription. For this reason, there would be no need to register your child. I will make available a list of online resources for those wanting to pursue this option.
Due to spacing requirements, we may need to have students come on alternating weeks. This is dependent upon each family’s choice of options, which is unknown at this time. Additional variables are how many teachers and assistants we have for each grade, classroom sizes, and the availability of helpers for sanitizing between classes. As you can understand, we are in need of volunteers to make this work. If you are bringing your children to class, can you stay and help?
Registration forms are available and can be returned to the box in the back of church. Please complete both sides of the form. There will also be links posted to the church website for submitting the forms electronically. As usual, we are asking for a donation of $20 for the first child, $15 for the second, and $10 for each additional child registered. These donations go toward the books and supplies for the children so it is important even if registering electronically. There is a class schedule attached to the registration form with dates and times of classes, but it is subject to changes at this time. For updates, sign up for notifications through the Remind app and search for class code @bscff or text “@bscff” to “81010”.
Even in this unsettled situation, it is very important for your children’s faith formation to continue, whether it is at home or in the classroom. “We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28. Trusting in Him, we hope to have another wonderful year and look forward to seeing your child(ren) grow in their faith.
