Blessed Sacrament Catholic Cemetery

Private Property of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Antonio

The Blessed Sacrament Catholic Cemetery is private property, owned by, overseen by, and subject to the canonical authority of the Roman Catholic Archbishop of San Antonio, Texas. 

Our parishioners and their families may purchase the right of burial or entombment in our cemetery. However, ownership of the real property remains solely with the Archdiocese.

Cemetery Rules & Regulations

To ensure the safety, dignity, and maintenance of our cemetery grounds, the following rules will be strictly enforced:


Gravesite Leveling

  • All lots and spaces must remain on a uniform level. No gravesite may be raised or terraced.
  • (Effective for all gravesites as of August 21, 2025}


 Lot/Space Enclosures

  • No fencing, stone, rock, curbing, or any form of enclosure is permitted.
  • Existing curbing is grandfathered in, but families are responsible for maintaining the interior of the gravesite.


Gravesite Materials

  • No rocks, stones, pebbles, beads, or any materials other than natural grass may be placed on any lot or space.


Floral Arrangements

If no permanent vase is affixed to the tombstone:

  • Artificial flowers may only be placed in front of the tombstone.
  • Arrangements may not exceed 18 inches from the tombstone's edge.
  • No items may obstruct mowing paths.


 Prohibited Items

The following are not allowed on any lot or space:

  • Monuments, statues, balloons, trinkets, vases, or artifacts made of glass, plastic, metal, cloth, ceramic, wood, resin, or clay.


Decorative Items & Furniture

Not permitted:

  •  Benches, chairs, birdbaths, hooks, crosses, wind chimes, or garden decor of any kind.


Plantings

  •  No planting of shrubs or trees is allowed.
  • Decorating of existing trees/shrubs is prohibited.


 Behavior on Cemetery Grounds

  • Smoking and lighting pf candles is prohibited.
  •  Alcoholic beverages are not allowed.


 Vehicles

  • Speed limit: 15 mph
  • Do not park or drive on the grass.


Markers and Memorials

  • Military markers may be placed on the back of existing headstones.
  • Funeral home markers are allowed until a permanent headstone is installed.
  • Homemade markers are not allowed.


Cremation Policy

  • Only one cremation per grave is permitted.
  • Names of cremated individuals may be included on the back side of the tombstone.


Mausoleum Sites

  • Flowers must be kept off the ground, if possible.
  • Monuments with built-in vases are preferred.


Important Notice

  • All flowers and items that do not comply with the above Rules and Regulations will be removed and discarded without notice.
